Tangbe village, Upper Mustang
To visit the Mustang region is to step back in time. There is a lot of interest in this photo. The woman wears the long robe and colourful back-apron typical of this region. To her right is a Tibetan mastiff, the wolf-like dogs which have been bred to protect their flocks of yak and goat from wolves and snow leopard. To her right is a small chorten with a shuffle of mani-stones on its upper levels. Each house is protected with prayer-flags. And, along the roofs is stacked a supply of winter fuel.
There is not one item in this photo which has origin in the world of technology. It's a picture which could have been taken a thousand year or more years ago.
