Tsewang Bista in his carpet saleroom
It is now rare to see carpets of this superb quality for sale. This one from, probably central, Tibet is about sixty years old. Made from hand-spun sheep's wool and dyed with natural materials it is a variation on the 'tree of life'. Tsewang comes from a well established family in Tsarang. A day's ride from the border, he is constantly on the lookout for new material brought over from Tibet. He consistently has the finest objects for sale.
I doubt you will see another carpet like this during our trek in 2007, but you could!
