Mustang is a desert. Like most deserts it is very fertile when water is applied. This photo is a delightful juxtaposition of pink and green. The lush green of rich contrasts vividly with the soft pink of buckwheat flowers.
Buckwheat is a grain well adapted to the harsh climate of the Himalaya. It mostly grows above 3,000m. When trekking through Mustang you are constantly refreshed by scenes such as this.
