stooks of barley and a chorten 'kang-ni' near Sama
We take our Manaslu trek post-monsoon. At this time of the year crops of barley and buck-wheat are being harvested in the high valleys. There is no mechanisation here. All agricultural activity depends on the labour of yaks and people. Because the region is 'restricted' very few tourists come this way so the way of life has changed very little in recent years.
In this photo stooks of barley stand near a 'two-legged' chorten at the entrance to Sama village.
