Gompa altar, Tsum: Nepal

Gompa altar with torma, Tsum
gompa altar: Tsum region

I'm not sure in which gompa this picture was taken! It's certainly in a gompa of Tsum. As many altars have similar details, the picture is quite illustrative. Brass bowls are filled with offerings of corn and bronze lamps are kept alight with yak butter.
The striking coloured objects are torma, constructions of dough and coloured butter. They symbolise the universe and Tibetan deities. No matter what your religious beliefs, it is always of interest to visit the religious sites while trekking.
As we trek around the Manaslu region there are many places similar to this.
