Brass decorated chung bottles like this can be found throughout Tibetan regions. This is a particularly fine example. It's an old one as evidenced from its style and the finger-worn stud immediately above her hand.
Chung, or chang, is Tibetan beer usually made from barley. The kata, or ceremonial scarf, is given to important persons, or images as a sign of respect. Expensive ones are made from silk with a subtle woven pattern They are never elaborately decorated. Here the kata is used to honor the chung and, by association, all who drink it.
