tea ceremony

The Chinese ceremonial for taking tea is less well known in the West than the Japanese tradition. Here in a small shop in 'Calligraphy Street' in the tourist city of Xi'an you can experience the Chinese style of taking tea. It is less formal, with an emphasis on the sensory experience of preparing and tasting tea. Ideally, it is a time with friends to enjoy conversation and the various sensations around tasting tea. Tea which is often sublime!

Don't miss this experience if you visit China. But look for a place where the space is more intimate and is directed more towards locals rather than foreign tourists.

Taking tea is one of many 'occasions' on our Silk Road tour through China and Central Asia.
