block printing
Not far from Jaipur is the printing village of Sanganer. Because the local river has dye-fixing properties, Sanganer has been famous for centuries for it's cotton dyeing industry. Block-printing is one associated skill. Using a set of carved blocks for each particular pattern skilled printers, apply dyes or mud-resist to create table-cloths for the world.
During our north India tour we spend a morning exploring the workshops of Sanganer and trying our hand at this difficult craft.
