Xingjiao Si

They have been dancing for two thousand years, but look at the life still present! These wooden images are crudely carved but the artist's skill is very apparent. Not that they were intended as 'art-pieces'. Originally they stood in tomb of a Han Dyanasty (206BCE - 220CE) notable to welcome him to the after-life.

Many museums in western China have been extensively renovated in recent years. This one, in Lanzhou is one of the best.
