Kochi - Cochin

dip-nets, Kochi, South India
near Fort Cochin

Lining the large harbour of Kochi, are scores of these 'Chinese' nets. Centuries ago this tradition of fishing was brought to south India and avidly adopted by the locals. The huge nets are cantilevered, so that lowering and raising them is a practical proposition for four or five men.

This sunset view, has the modern fishing fleet returning home and the sun descending in the west into the Arabian sea. It is tre-photogenic!
