Kunga Tenzing: cartaker of Ryangbyang
This man comes from Amdo in far eastern Tibet, a refugee from the Chinese invasion of his homeland. For the past eight years he has been the self-appointed caretaker of Ryangbyang. Living alone in a small room within the cave he spends his days caring for the place and himself. Like many elderly non-religious Tibetans he intends to spend his final years on good works. This is his choice. For survival he depends on donations.
With luck we shall meet him again in 2007.
Few locals or foreigners come to this old place. It is well worth the effort. For another view of this cave see the picture of the month for February 2005.
